TILE KIOSK is a pop-up shop for individual tiles as well as a mobile installation presented by the Japanese label Tajimi Custom Tiles. Following several exhibitions in Tokyo, the Tile Kiosk is opening its doors for the second time during Design Week in Zurich.
The kiosk showcases tiles carefully selected from the workshops and manufacturers of Tajimi — deadstock, samples, and prototypes that have remained unused until now, finding a second life here as individual objects. With their great variety of shapes, colours, and textures, the tiles offer an inspiring glimpse into the world of Japanese ceramic tiles, many of which are still handcrafted in local workshops using centuries-old expertise.
Tajimi Custom Tiles (TCT), Based in Tajimi, Japan, Tajimi Custom Tiles (TCT) creates bespoke tiles for architects and interior designers working on projects around the world. TCT also develops and produces custom tiles for smaller-scale spaces, drawing on the knowledge and experience of some of the region’s finest local manufacturers.
The result is projects that go far beyond standard applications, transforming tiles into a central architectural element.

TILE KIOSK ist ein Pop-up-Shop für einzelne Plättli sowie eine mobile Installation, präsentiert vom japanischen Label Tajimi Custom Tiles. Nach mehreren Ausstellungen in Tokyo, öffnet der Tile Kiosk zum zweiten Mal während der Design Week in Zürich seine Türen.
Gezeigt werden Plättli, die sorgfältig in den Manufakturen von Tajimi ausgewählt wurden – Deadstock, Muster und Prototypen, die bislang ungenutzt blieben und hier als eigenständige Objekte ein zweites Leben finden. Mit ihrer großen Vielfalt an Formen, Farben und Texturen eröffnen die Plättli einen inspirierenden Einblick in die Welt japanischer Keramikkacheln, die in lokalen Manufakturen mit jahrhundertealtem Know-how zum Teil noch von Hand gefertigt werden.
Tajimi Custom Tiles (TCT) Der in Tajimi, Japan, ansässige Brand bietet Architekt:innen und Interior Designer:innen maßgeschneiderte Kacheln für Architekturprojekte weltweit. Auch für kleinere Flächen entwickelt und produziert TCT individuelle Kacheln nach Maß und greift dabei auf das Wissen und die Erfahrung der besten lokalen Manufakturen zurück. So entstehen Projekte, die weit über Standardanwendungen hinausgehen und Kacheln zu einem zentralen Architekturelement machen.
