The Tenugui is a traditional cotton woven towel.
In japanese daily life the Tenugui towel finds many different purposes: Decoration on a wall or table, head cover, wrapping of presents, baby towel or many other variations.
The long sides are finished with a selvage, and the short sides are just cut and so soon show some fraying.
These Tenugui are handmade, dyed in the chusen technique, a double-sided printing method from the Edo-period.
