The KOBO TABLE was originally designed for “IRORI”, Ishinomaki’s first coworking space created after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. The table shares a similar design and construction to the ISHINOMAKI BENCH and ISHINOMAKI STOOL. This sturdy and durable table can be found throughout the city of Ishinomaki, in places such as offices, bakeries, and local restaurants.

Material:
White Spruce (Fichte) fairly lightweight and “modern” wood of less texture. Finish with white pigment gives it a fairly white finish and prevents yellowing.
Red Douglas fir (Douglaise) more heavy and fairly hard wood. Colors of reddish to pink, sapwood of lighter shades. Finish with white pigment gives it a fairly pink finish and prevents darkening to more brown colors.
Finish of vegetable oil soap treatment with white pigment. Screws made of stainless steel (V2A).
Furniture by ISHINOMAKI LAB are a strong and almost indestructible companion for life. Sign of use makes them more beautiful. The furniture are not suitable for permanent outdoor use or to expose to the weather.
Design:
KEIJI ASHIZAWA DESIGN (JP). After graduating from Yokohama University School of Architecture in 1995, Keiji Ashizawa spentthe first ten years of his career working as both an architect and steel fabricator. Ashizawa presents work of ‘honest’ design –simple yet refined, thoughtful and of a light manner –derived naturally through the process of attempting to maximise the potential of each material and its function. He works in various scale, from furniture and lighting design to architecture and exhibition design.In 2011, Ashizawawas awarded a Special Award by the Japan Institute of Design for his participation in the inception of ISHINOMAKI LAB.
